Logo Design - New Durham Chapel

I have been working on a logo for New Durham Chapel. Following is the brief and first two draft concepts.

BASIC INFO:
New Durham Chapel
Word(s)NDC
Icon(s)People, community, church, cross, bible, teachings.
Organization’s values and/or mission – Making Disciples. Teaching God’s Word. Glorifying God.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
The logo will help create a branded image for NDC. The branded image will help the church connect our members and our mission to our community and our world.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Chapel, Church

TARGET AUDIENCE:
People who come in contact with NDC church properties (physical building and online website) will be able to recognize the NDC brand and associate it to the church.  In addition this brand can be used on various items that can be given as gifts (pens, coffee mugs) or worn by staff (t-shirts, visors, etc). A strong brand combined with a strong mission statement helps cement who you are and what you are about, making disciples for Jesus Christ, teaching God’s Word, and glorifying God.

CONCEPTS:

Concept 1

The logo is comprised of four people who come together to form a cross (in the center of the logo). The oval represents the oneness of purpose and mind that comes when the focus is on being disciples of Christ, who is represented by the cross.  Notice that the people have various shades of coloring to represent the diversity of race and culture that is present at NDC.

Concept 2

The logo has many elements collaborating to provide meaning. There is a church with a white cross opening to the world. The letters NDC may not be visible at first glance, but after taking a deeper look you can see that the N is formed by the roof of the chapel in blue, and the D and C are formed by the two people with outstretched arms symbolizing different people coming together to do God’s work in our community and world.
